Black Widow Won’t Follow Mulan With A Disney+ Debut

After the scare fans received from Disney’s announcement that Mulan will be bypassing movie theaters and going online to Disney+, Marvel fans took to Twitter to discuss if the studios will be giving the same treatment to Black Widow too.

But the good news is that Disney CEO Bob Chapek has squashed those rumours by stating that the Disney+ premiere of Mulan will be a one-off event (via Collider).

We’re very pleased to be able to bring Mulan to our consumer base that has been waiting for it for a long, long time. Mulan is a one-off. That said, we find it very interesting to be able to take a new offering to consumers at that $29.99 price and learn from it and see what happens not only in terms of the uptick of the number of subscribers we got on the platform, but also the number of transactions we get on that PVOD offering.

This piece of news will probably sit better with fans who’d rather go for another delayed 2021 release than have to pay a premium to watch the movie online.

Hopefully the Black Widow movie will go ahead with its 6 November premiere this year and not be delayed yet again or shifted online to Disney+.
