Will Smith And Kevin Hart To Star In Planes, Trains & Automobiles Remake

Will Smith and Kevin Hart are starring in and producing the Planes, Trains & Automobiles remake.

Hart confirmed the project on his Instagram, captioning the photo: “I’ve been patiently waiting for the right project to team up with my brother with. We found it and are developing it together with our teams. This will be huge for us and the city of brotherly love aka Philadelphia….. let’s goooooo @willsmith 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾”

Aeysha Carr who previously wrote and produced Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Woke is set to write the script. The remake is reported to have the same plot as the original.

Released in 1987, the original movie starred Steve Martin and John Candy and was directed by famed comedy and teen-romcom filmmaker John Hughes (Home Alone, The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles).

The original film followed their characters Neal Page, a high-strung marketing executive, and Del Griffith, a goodhearted but annoying shower curtain ring salesman on a whacky road trip together in order to make it home to their families in time for the holidays.

Planes, Trains & Automobile marks another remake for the two actors. Smith recently portrayed Genie in the Disney live-action remake of Aladdin and Hart just came off Jumanji: The Next Level, a remake of the 1995 Jumanji film.

Smith is also in the works of rebooting Bel-Air, a gritty and dark take on the comedic 90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air that shot Smith to stardom.

With many remakes and reboots happening in the industry, fans of John Hughes are waiting to see if this duo can pull off the Planes, Trains & Automobiles remake.
